In what can be called a dramatic news that breaches the limit of being just a rumor, the whole cyberspace is now abuzz with information that iPad 3 shipments from the Chinese Foxconn have begun. The iPad 3 will arrive at the shores of the US in a few hours from Feb 26th – at top three airports like the LAX (Los Angeles), JKF (New York) and ORD (Chicago). The iPad 3 release date has been tentatively rumored to be around March 9th. Of course, the reports arrive from a free translation of some Chinese conversation in Weibo and WeiPhone forum posts.

A translation put on 9to5Mac reads:

Our company started undertake a load of top-secured cargo. The owner has extreme requirements for the security. In order to prevent the cargo from being dragged on the airport ramp for too long, as well as shortening the time the cargo stay on the airport ramp, we hereby require XXXX to schedule all the XXX cargo planes from Feb. 26 to Mar. 9. to XXX slot.

All this talk of unusually high-security needs from the handlers looks very specifically pointed at something like chips, storage units etc. And experts have not wasted any time in jumping to an iPad 3 conclusion.

The dates, therefore look very promising indeed. A March 9 release or even an announcement would really mean quite a leap in the iPad industry. The cargo planes would fly in from Feb 26th, and bring the first few copies of iPad 3 to be released in the US in March. Some experts have pointed out the high probability of a March 9 release as the previous two iPad releases came on a Friday.

Of course, as regards the OS, a GM version of iOS 5.1 is still unannounced. We think Apple would either time it right after the iPad 3 announcement so that when the shipment is finally released to the public, iPad 3 will have the latest iOS firmware running.

As regards cost, no idea has been established whatsoever. The iPad 3 features that have been doing the cyber rounds include a dual-LED backlit display with HD Retina Display, the A6 processor and quite a lot of other interesting features. It’s now only a matter of time before the iPad 3 release date announcements are made.
