Gearbox shares more info about Borderlands 2's 'Gunzerker"'

Gearbox has shared additional information about its upcoming sequel to 2009's roleplaying first-person shooter, Borderlands. We already knew the four playable characters would be replaced or drastically altered, but only one of them was teased: a bearded dwarf named "Salvador" is a "Gunzerker" who can dual-wield any two weapons and serves a similar role to Borderlands' Brick the Berserker.
Two of his abilities were also revealed in August: one increases the fire rate of any gun the longer its trigger is held, while the second boosts accuracy when dual-wielding same class weapons or doubles damage with mixed class weapons. However, a recent report by IGN has painted a more vivid picture of the Gunzerker's role along with his backstory -- something the original characters lacked.
"Everybody in the first game was implied to have just come to Pandora looking for the vault. Salvador is actually a native of Pandora and the idea is that he sort of protected a town wherever he lived out in the sticks. Once Hyperion came to the planet they've been on this quest to eradicate all the 'bandits' from Pandora, but in their mind that's everybody who is not part of the Hyperion corporate family," said Gearbox.
Interestingly, Salvador's ability to dual-wield weapons is said to be temporary. This could add some depth to the combat, forcing you to mix and match the right weapons at the right time. Many guns have special elemental effects that can work together when dispatching enemies. For example, you might combine a shock machine gun and a fire shotgun to drop a bad guy's shield before lighting him on fire.

Like the original, each class in Borderlands 2 will have three skill trees that offer different types of gameplay and Gearbox is adding more abilities to make each route more unique. Many of the skills are supposedly based on movie quotes, such as "Yippe Ki Yay," a Die Hard reference. The Gunzerker's trees will include "Rampage," "Brawn" and "Gun Lust" -- DPS and tank-like trees, it sounds like.
IGN offers more details about each style and like the original, you won't be locked into one path. You'll be able to distribute your points across each tree, accumulating abilities that suit your play style. You won't be severely punished for trying different combinations either, as respeccing will be cheap. "We do everything we can to encourage experimentation so the players can try out the different things"

Some facts about BitTorrent

Torrenting is perhaps one of the favorite ways for internet users to download copyrighted material for free. It involves downloading a .torrent file and loading it into a torrent program, which then finds users around the internet (thanks to "trackers") who have the necessary files stored on their computers. These "peers" then serve the files to the downloaders without a middle-man server, hence the term peer-to-peer networking.
While they can be used legitimately, torrents are largely used for piracy. As of the time of writing, popular torrent search engine IsoHunt has indexed 8.25 million torrents with a combined size of 13,635 TB (or 13.6 petabytes). With 33.58 million connected peers, this gives a rough average of 4 peers per torrent. This also means the average size of a torrent indexed on IsoHunt is 1.64 GB.
Note: When talking about torrent file sizes, we're not referring to the actual .torrent file size, which is usually a few kilobytes, but rather to the size of the files the torrent enables you do download from peers.
Here's where it starts to get interesting. Public torrent aggregator Torrentz is currently indexing a larger 11.70 million torrents (without duplicates) across 33 domains, which provides for a good statistical base.

Google has hit back at those who think it is turning its back on its 'don't be evil' mantra by explaining that its recent privacy changes are all about making things simple and more transparent.

Google's recent changes are big news for everyone who uses myriad Google products, as it has unified its rules and regulations so if you sign into one Google property, information about you from other Google services may be used by Google to push out relevant ads and the like to you.

Google changes

In a statement from the company, Google policy manager Betsy Masiello explained that the new regulations were nothing but a good thing for users.

"We're making things simpler and we're trying to be upfront about it. Period.

"You still have choice and control. You don't need to log in to use many of our services, including Search, Maps and YouTube."

The statement continued: "You can use as much or as little of Google as you want. For example, you can have a Google Account and choose to use Gmail, but not use Google+.

"Or you could keep your data separate with different accounts – for example, one for YouTube and another for Gmail."

Google's new policy settings are set to appear as of 1 March. But you can check just what Google thinks of you by going to the site's ad preferences. For some reason, Google has this writer pegged as a 65-year-old woman…
